Ken grew up in the disco era of the 1970's and early 1980's but swears that he only owned one leisure suit in his life. Country, Bluegrass, and Gospel were the dominant music forms heard in the Nicely home; sounds for which Ken has developed a new appreciation and keen interest today. The honky-tonk style piano playing of Ken's dad, Ron, was an early influence and singing and playing at church was a favorite activitiy. Having become a follower of Jesus Christ, Ken's formal training and experience in music was developed mainly within the church where he played piano for services and sang whenever and wherever an invitation was extended, though he has always been partial to a rocking Billy Joel tune or the folk sound of Dan Fogelberg. Ken has taken his music to other parts of the world including Germany and Central America where he lived for two years, becoming fluent in Spanish. Ken lives with his wife Teresa and their three children in Roanoke, Virginia.
